What critics said
Critics generally found the parody derivative and uneven, with occasional laughs but far less freshness and comic precision than the genre's strongest predecessors.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film converts Mafia rise-and-fall conventions, family rivalries, shootings, casinos, and romantic distractions into sustained comic parody.
Don Cortino is shot 47 times, while criminal threats and family conflicts are staged as absurd physical gags.
Vincenzo moves from Sicily and postman-family origins through emigration and Mafia advancement before the story shifts to his son's Las Vegas career.
The Cortino family's rise, succession problems, and conflict with rival family heads drive the central plot.
