What critics said
Critics broadly agree that the compilation is structurally choppy and not a fully independent sequel, while its strongest comic moments can still reward fans of the original.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film is explicitly compiled from dropped subplots and alternate takes from Anchorman.
Ron Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone continue their rivalry within an intentionally unprofessional television-news milieu.
The Alarm Clock thieves and Burgundy's news team generate comedy through collective incompetence and outsized behavior.
Narration and a retained story element connect alternate takes into an apparent continuation.
