What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Sixty-year-old fisherman Issa slowly gathers the confidence to approach Siham, making age and emotional hesitancy central to the romance.
Issa's discovery of an ancient statue of Apollo in his fishing nets becomes the mysterious object that propels his growing confidence.
The courtship between Issa and Siham takes place in Gaza, where ordinary romantic hopes coexist with difficult social and political conditions.
The film combines a quiet declaration of love with the improbable concealment of a phallic Apollo statue amid daily life in Gaza.
