What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
John and Dean return from authoritarian homeschooling in Antarctica with Ph.D.s but almost no practical experience of dating, sex, or everyday relationships.
The brothers seek a surrogate specifically to provide their comatose father with a grandchild and restore his emotional will to live.
The brothers' upbringing in Antarctica explains their profound social naivety after re-entering civilization.
John's unsuccessful pursuit of neighbor Tara unfolds alongside the pregnancy plan and the brothers' attempts to help Janine and James.
