What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Charlotte remains trapped in a crumbling Louisiana plantation mansion haunted by an old murder and family secrets.
Charlotte’s apparent mental decline may reflect genuine instability, deliberate torment, or revelations surrounding John Mayhew’s murder.
The film combines elaborate mansion set pieces, murder, mayhem, deceit, and intensely stylized performances by Bette Davis and Olivia de Havilland.
John’s killing during a family ball continues to shape Charlotte’s isolation, Miriam’s return, and the Hollis family’s threatened legacy.
