What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Sofia begins searching for her endangered pilot son but gradually becomes a protector of everyone needing rescue, including people she regards as enemies.
Sofia is ultimately willing to help those she previously considered enemies, while encounters with suffering reshape the people who assist her.
Sofia travels without allies, a plan, or certainty about survivors, and the dangerous route changes her identity from one child's mother to a wider maternal figure.
The search takes place across unfamiliar frontline territory after a transport plane is shot down, with danger and uncertainty shaping the journey.
