What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The well-liked mayor's political ambitions and clash with a disillusioned graduate place public approval and power at the center of the conflict.
The graduate is explicitly disappointed and positioned against the current, creating the film's central resistance to political and social convention.
The title's dance motif, the presence of an impresario, and the stylized clash between political figures and dissenters suggest an allegorical performance register.
The conflict is structured around the mayor's popular political identity and the graduate's disappointed dissenting perspective, with supporting figures widening the social frame.
