What critics said
Critics broadly considered the sequel a recycled and sluggish family comedy whose over-the-top Cruella performance and canine charm could not overcome warmed-over ideas.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Glenn Close plays Cruella de Vil as an extravagantly theatrical antagonist whose transformation and fashion-driven persona dominate the film.
Cruella is released from prison after therapy and appears reformed, while the recurring sound of Big Ben foreshadows the reversal of that condition.
Cruella uses her connections to Chloe and a dog charity to regain access to the canine world and advance her revived plans.
Cruella's fabulous wardrobe and flamboyant physicality provide the film's primary visual emphasis, alongside its procession of dalmatians and puppies.
