What critics said
Critics agreed that Leslie Nielsen's comic persona remained appealing, but a lazy script, weak jokes, and slapdash direction undermined the spy parody.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film centers on secret agents, a world-threatening villain, a covert mission, and overt parodies of James Bond-style presentation.
Prof. Ukrinsky's special computer chip is required for General Rancor's missile-based plan and motivates the agent's assignment.
Critical reception specifically describes a machine-gun approach to humor, with successive sketches, slapstick bits, and film parodies.
General Rancor intends to destroy the world with a hidden missile and is portrayed through exaggerated spy-movie villain conventions.
