What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Emi's confrontation with parents becomes a social tribunal over sexual behavior, respectability, and authority.
The film includes an extensive illustrated lexicon of Romanian social and political hypocrisy before returning to Emi's crisis.
The leaked sex tape, blunt humor, and confrontational public debate make discomfort itself part of the satire.
Emi's walks through Bucharest are presented with sustained observational attention, contrasted against the film's other formal sections.
