What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Vada, Mia, and Quinton struggle with post-traumatic stress, grief, depression, and altered relationships after a school shooting.
Critics specifically praised the film’s treatment of real emotional stakes within the gloss of social media, while Vada maintains a façade of ordinary teenage life.
The three teenagers form a dynamic bond and navigate a confusing, nonlinear emotional journey toward connection and recovery.
Vada’s outward nothing-to-look-at-here façade is contrasted with the emotional damage beneath it, a quality praised in Jenna Ortega’s performance.
