What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Tom is engineered to satisfy Alma's desires, making their developing relationship a test of whether love can be designed.
The humanoid companion is created for a woman's needs rather than presenting the conventional male fantasy of a compliant female android.
The experiment uses an AI partner to address loneliness while Alma's skepticism and social relationships complicate the promise of optimized happiness.
The humanoid robot's artificial perfection is placed within recognizable apartments, family spaces, and contemporary Berlin surroundings.
