What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The band's collapse follows the end of Bulgaria's communist regime and the resulting transformation of public musical taste.
The former Zhiguli Band members are separated, argumentative, and openly hostile before being drawn back into shared history.
The plot contrasts the band's peak fame at the end of the 1980s with the members' alienation in the present.
Shifting musical taste functions as the force that buries the band and marks Bulgaria's broader transition.
