What critics said
Critics broadly found the central premise thin and predictable but credited Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell, and the ensemble with supplying genuine charm, wit, and warm comic energy.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Joanna's affluent yacht-centered life is contrasted with Dean's modest household, and their relationship develops through an imposed change in social position.
After Joanna loses her memory, she is placed in Dean's household and must navigate an entirely unfamiliar role as wife and mother.
Joanna and Dean begin with a dispute over carpentry payment and sharply conflicting temperaments before their forced domestic proximity changes the relationship.
The heiress Joanna is redirected from luxury and entitlement toward housekeeping, parenting, and participation in Dean's working-class family life.
