What critics said
Critics generally found the sequel cute, charming, and good-hearted, but unevenly funny and weakened by toilet humor and a restrained lead performance.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Dr. Dolittle relies on a large group of talking forest animals, including Archie and Ava, whose personalities and conversations drive the rescue effort.
John and the forest creatures organize to preserve their home and prevent the loss of their species' habitat.
John acts as cupid by teaching the bumbling circus bear Archie how to court Ava in time to help save the bears.
The forest setting and expressive animal characters create a bright, accessible fantasy world for family audiences.
