What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film recaps the first 24 episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion using edited material from the television series.
The Evangelion units and battles combine giant-robot spectacle with unsettling organic forms and disturbing imagery.
Shinji Ikari’s central role connects personal isolation and difficult relationships to the demands of piloting an Evangelion.
The recap preserves Evangelion’s dense apocalyptic mythology and highly symbolic presentation of its science-fiction conflict.
