What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Kathy's efforts to recover her home, Behrani's refusal to surrender a promised financial future, and Lester's intervention progressively intensify the conflict.
Behrani's Iranian exile and former status collide with Kathy's attachment to her father's house and Lester's assumptions about justice.
The California bungalow functions simultaneously as Kathy's inheritance, Behrani's investment, and the material center of the characters' escalating struggle.
The film invites sympathy for Kathy, Behrani, Nadi, and Lester even as their choices contribute to mounting harm.
