What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Fanny and Alain reconnect by chance, and their meeting initiates the affair and subsequent criminal developments.
Fanny's privileged Parisian marriage and social circle provide the setting for infidelity, possessiveness, and deception.
The film combines marital deception and crime with comic observations and a lightly satirical treatment of its characters.
Vittorio Storaro's cinematography gives the Parisian settings a polished, composed look that contrasts with the characters' concealed turmoil.
