What critics said
Critics generally regarded the sequel as a slick but inferior and repetitive slasher whose practical horror craft could not match the originality of the first film.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Chucky's reconstructed doll body houses the soul of serial killer Charles Lee Ray and drives the film's murders.
The story abandons the original mystery of Chucky's identity and focuses on his relentless pursuit of Andy with a rising body count.
Andy remains vulnerable in foster care while adults and the doll manufacturer deny or obscure what Chucky is.
The climax and major danger unfold inside the factory where the killer doll is reconstructed and manufactured.
