What critics said
Critics generally found the film an intelligent, well-acted, thematically rich political thriller whose restrained approach and mature ensemble could not overcome an undercooked, slow-burning story.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Nick's former Weather Underground identity and the investigation into a deadly 1970s robbery connect past protest ideals to present accountability.
Ben Shepard's reporting drives the exposure of Nick's identity and pushes the investigation deeper into the old case.
Nick stays ahead of the FBI while moving through a personal quest to clear his name, creating restrained rather than explosive tension.
The mature ensemble and the film's grounded treatment of aging radicals, print journalism, and federal pursuit give the drama a weathered contemporary texture.
