What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The story is first presented through Monika's perspective and then retold through Claudette's prism.
Monika hopes love can purify and transform her life, but her status as a call girl makes that hope socially unacceptable.
The Tallinn visit occurs in May 1939, only months before the outbreak of the Second World War.
Claudette agrees to trade loyalty to her friend and the guest for money after being approached by German embassy associates.
