What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The crashed rugby team is isolated on an inaccessible Andes glacier where cold, altitude, hunger, and avalanches determine the survivors' options.
The survivors must collectively confront starvation, death, sacrifice, and faith while deciding how to remain human under impossible conditions.
The film foregrounds multiple crash victims and survivors, including Numa Turcatti, Nando Parrado, and Roberto Canessa, rather than focusing exclusively on those eventually rescued.
Sweeping views of the Andes glacier contrast with close, physically intimate depictions of the plane wreck and the survivors' deteriorating refuge.
