What critics said
Critics broadly found the sequel to be a lazy, patchwork rehash whose star chemistry and action could not overcome muddled exposition and formulaic writing.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Inspector Jack Cates and former convict Reggie Hammond are compelled to work together against a shared criminal threat.
The film reunites the original cop-convict pairing, repeats their adversarial chemistry, and expands the violence and spectacle.
Cates risks losing his badge while obsessively trying to establish that the elusive Iceman exists.
The film is distinguished by shootouts, hurled bodies, broken windows, and an over-the-top violent climax.
