What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Austin Powers is cryonically frozen in the 1960s and struggles with the changed attitudes of the 1990s.
The film sends a flamboyant secret agent against an elaborate villain through exaggerated versions of classic spy-film conventions.
Dr. Evil steals a nuclear weapon and demands 100 billion dollars after realizing the economic scale of the 1990s.
Austin's look, behavior, and spy-world presentation deliberately evoke swinging 1960s pop culture.
