What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film reworks recognizable modern songs into its late nineteenth-century romance and stage performances.
The Moulin Rouge is rendered through saturated color, frenetic cutting, elaborate choreography, and oversized production design.
Christian and Satine pursue intimacy while the Duke's patronage and Satine's worsening illness threaten their relationship.
Satine's star status and Zidler's club management make spectacle a means of securing money, status, and continued existence.
