What critics said
Critics broadly regarded the sequel as a stale, weakly written rehash whose familiar slapstick formula had substantially declined in freshness and effectiveness.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film repeatedly uses pratfalls, slipping on golf balls, comic sound effects, and crude physical gags.
The familiar academy ensemble is moved to a Miami Beach police convention while retaining the established bungling-cops formula.
Harris schemes to replace Lassard, while the academy graduates must resolve the danger created by inept police behavior and diamond thieves.
Miami Beach and the Everglades provide the sunny convention setting and the climactic high-speed chase.
