What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
François Perrin, an ordinary orchestra player, is unknowingly used as a decoy in a secret-service struggle.
Agents manipulate Perrin's circumstances while his innocent interpretations collide with the audience's awareness of the espionage plot.
Secret-service maneuvering, seduction, mistaken identity, and an extramarital affair are coordinated into a sustained farcical tone.
The title's distinctive mismatched shoes and the plot's emphasis on dresses and appearances make visual misreading central to the comedy.
