What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Rise enters Wonderland during a life crisis and confronts her uncertainty through encounters with its eccentric inhabitants.
University student Rise travels alongside seven-year-old Victorian Alice, whose fearless intelligence challenges Rise's hesitation.
The film draws on Lewis Carroll's Alice novels while centering modern-day Rise rather than Alice alone.
Wonderland is presented as a place where perhaps nothing is real and anything can happen, including identity-focused encounters with the caterpillar and Cheshire Cat.
