What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Historians and an essayist examine the mechanisms behind the 1609 Basque witch hunt rather than following a fictional protagonist.
The plot foregrounds demonological doctrine as a deeply misogynistic system that identified women as enemies and legitimized persecution.
The investigation connects Christian demonological thinking with government-backed witch hunts and mass victimization.
The deadliest witch hunt in France is examined through the Basque Country and its cross-border French-Spanish context.
