What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Martha Gellhorn and Ernest Hemingway’s romance is continually shaped by their reputations, writing careers, and public myths.
Gellhorn and Hemingway cover the Spanish Civil War and other conflicts, making frontline witnessing central to their relationship.
The film uses stylized period presentation, sweeping romance, desaturated wartime imagery, and heightened star performances.
Gellhorn’s status as a trailblazing correspondent is contrasted with Hemingway’s larger-than-life masculine literary legend.
