What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Hein is subjected to a collective trial because the island villagers refuse to accept his claimed identity.
Hein's return to an island village places the identity dispute within a physically bounded and socially insular community.
The central conflict turns on whether Hein can regain membership in the village after fourteen years away.
The villagers demand a trial to determine whether Hein is genuinely the person he claims to be.
