What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
David and Wilma Finlay build their dairy practice around keeping calves with their mothers, making this the film's defining agricultural intervention.
The Finlays' two-year experiment explicitly prioritizes the wellbeing of cows and calves while assessing its effects on dairy farming.
The documentary follows Scottish farmers through an extended two-year process rather than relying on fictionalized reconstruction or dramatization.
The Finlays pioneer an alternative dairy system and demonstrate how changing one core husbandry practice can transform their farm.
