What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The principal figures are identified through archetypal names such as Pleasure, Fingers, Love, and Sorrow.
The bank clerk, mobster, gangster, pop star, and doctor occupy connected narrative segments shaped by debt, coercion, and sacrifice.
Gambling debt, prophetic ability, kidnapping, murder, and doomed romance are framed as embodiments of abstract human emotions.
The mobster plot, sadistic violence, prophecy, and threatened performers create a dark, heightened crime aesthetic.
