What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Val, Doc, and Hirsch are veteran gangsters whose reunion becomes a reckoning with age, loyalty, and mortality.
Val's release launches an overnight spree of partying, theft, driving, and unfinished business before morning brings Claphands' deadline.
Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, and Alan Arkin carry the film through conversational scenes and comic criminal set pieces.
The friends' banter and reckless night out are repeatedly shadowed by Val's knowledge of his likely fate and Hirsch's declining health.
