What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The Sanno of the East and Hanabishi of the West compete for dominance as police pressure destabilizes the underworld.
The film’s criminal negotiations repeatedly give way to blunt, graphic killings and retaliatory violence.
Critical reception specifically notes humor bubbling beneath shouting matches between supposedly composed clan members.
The police crackdown ignites and manipulates the yakuza struggle instead of simply suppressing it.
