May contain story progression spoilers
The film interweaves the Kittredges, Ellison, Gephart, Marigold, and other settlers across the emerging western territory.
Its 15-year narrative centers on western settlement, Manifest Destiny, and conflict in Apache-dominated territory.
Chapter 1 introduces the interconnected cast and the Horizon settlement while clearly reserving further development for later installments.
