What critics said
Critics broadly found the sequel a gory, energetic, cleverly staged continuation that benefits from its New York setting and strong young cast, despite an overlong and predictable third act.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Ghostface murders, fake identities, conspiracy clues, and shifting suspicions structure the central mystery.
The survivors leave Woodsboro for New York City, where subway, apartment, and campus spaces become stalking grounds.
Sam, Tara, and the other young survivors confront the fallout and trauma of the previous Woodsboro murders.
The film combines dark comedy and self-referential slasher expectations with unusually graphic Ghostface killings.
