What critics said
Critics broadly recognized the film's ambitious emotional treatment of infidelity and strong ensemble performances, while finding its lengthy runtime and melodramatic execution burdensome.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Dev and Maya enter an affair while both marriages are already emotionally fractured, and the screenplay gives substantial attention to each person's isolation and motives.
The central love story develops through dissatisfaction with existing marriages and creates turmoil instead of following a straightforward courtship-to-marriage arc.
The film uses lavish production design, fashion-world imagery, prominent musical presentation, and large-scale emotional performances to frame private relationship conflict.
Maya cannot reciprocate Rishi's love, while Dev resents Riya's professional success, establishing loneliness inside both marriages before the affair begins.
