What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Edward hires Vivian as an escort and Barney helps her navigate upscale clothing, etiquette, and Beverly Hills social expectations.
The relationship crosses the stark divide between Edward’s corporate wealth and Vivian’s precarious sex work while largely resolving through emotional connection.
The film places luxury hotels, expensive restaurants, corporate takeovers, designer clothing, and a wealthy corporate raider at the center of its romance.
Vivian must manage the stigma attached to being a Hollywood Boulevard sex worker while asserting her intelligence, warmth, and self-respect.
