What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Rodrigo and Juliana's relationship challenges decades of hatred between their families and the fence separating their farms.
The film explicitly relocates the emotional pattern of Shakespeare's Verona to farms on the Brazil Uruguay border.
The fence between the neighboring farms embodies the families' prejudice, resentment, and refusal of generosity.
The families gather between Christmas and New Year while the young lovers' relationship threatens to expose and unsettle old hatred.
