What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Harry Quartermain leads a trek into Africa to locate King Solomon's mines and their precious gems.
Harry's hatred of Germans complicates his growing relationship with Erica, whose nationality connects to his family's wartime deaths.
The film combines safari travel, hostile tribesmen, snakes, spiders, treasure, and romantic conflict in an MGM adventure format.
The Watusi medallion, the Quartermain family legacy, and the guarded mines derive from imperial-era adventure mythology.
