What critics said
Critics generally found the premise and performances charming enough to support an enjoyable romantic comedy, while faulting its formulaic jokes, uneven tone, and weak narrative cohesion.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Rosie's relationship with 29-year-old actor Adam drives the central romantic conflict.
Rosie produces the struggling comedy You Go Girl, and its ratings, censorship, casting, and spinoff decisions shape the plot.
The critical reception specifically identifies a heavy-handed Mother Nature device as part of the film's construction.
Rosie's boss bans vaguely controversial subjects, while ratings and a new sitcom determine the characters' professional futures.
