What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Vesper's bio-hacking abilities and the film's ecosystem-focused production design make biology the central visual and narrative technology.
Vesper and her father struggle to survive after Earth's ecosystem has collapsed, while protected settlements control resources.
Critics specifically identify a Brothers Grimm edge, while the story places a young girl in a dangerous, otherworldly landscape.
Vesper's defining abilities involve bio-hacking, which she applies with intelligence and physical resourcefulness to protect her future.
