What critics said
Critics broadly regarded the film as a poorly executed, juvenile spin-off that lacks the appeal of the original Ace Ventura films.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Ace Ventura Jr. steps into his eccentric father's pet-detective role after his mother is arrested.
The central accusation concerns the theft of a baby panda, and the protagonist's detective work revolves around animals.
The spin-off replaces the adult protagonist with his son and presents the property as a straightforward kids' romp.
The missing baby panda supplies the concrete mystery that drives Ace Jr.'s investigation.
