What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film mixes detective story, alien invasion, zombie outbreak, serial-killer imagery, romance, and comedy.
Its alien slugs, zombies, sorority setting, and detective plot knowingly echo earlier B-movie and undead traditions.
Alien parasites released from a frozen corpse infect students and transform human hosts into killers.
The parasites, undead bodies, and host transformations are presented through hands-on 1980s horror effects.
