What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The demon and supernatural mythology are rooted in Hindu folklore and reframed through an Indian-American teenager's experience.
The entity grows stronger by feeding on Samidha's loneliness after her rupture with Tamira and conflict over cultural identity.
Samidha struggles to reconcile her Indian heritage with modern American teenage life and her relationship with her mother.
Samidha's falling-out with former best friend Tamira directly precedes the entity's release and drives the emotional conflict.
