What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
A.J. and Moose turn the snack shack into a space for gambling, drinking, rule-breaking, and personal discovery.
The Nebraska City setting, swimming pool, VHS culture, beer, and period-specific teenage routines ground the story in 1991.
A.J. and Moose's close bond is complicated by their shared environment and romantic feelings surrounding Brooke.
The film uses energetic set pieces, including a one-shot booze party and reckless food-flipping in a moving pickup, to heighten adolescent exhilaration.
