High-Rise
Within a self-contained, newly-built London high-rise, a rigidly stratified society rapidly descends into primal chaos as the carefully constructed social order unravels. The film isn't a conventional disaster scenario, but a darkly comedic and increasingly brutal exploration of class conflict manifesting through escalating acts of territoriality and regression, transforming modern architecture into a concrete jungle of escalating violence. As basic societal functions—food, water, power—break down, the inhabitants, initially defined by their floor level and status, engage in a disturbing, almost ritualistic re-enactment of societal hierarchies, blurring the lines between civilization and savagery. The atmosphere shifts from sterile modernity to a visceral, unsettling depiction of human nature stripped bare, observing a terrifyingly swift societal collapse within the confines of a single building.
