Before We Go
Stranded in a near-empty New York Penn Station after a theft leaves her without funds or identification, Allie finds an unexpected companion in Nick, a taciturn musician grappling with personal loss. Their overnight exploration of the city isn’t a conventional romance, but a quietly unfolding series of shared vulnerabilities and hesitant connections fueled by circumstance and a shared sense of loneliness. The film deliberately avoids grand gestures, instead focusing on the small, revealing moments of genuine human interaction—a melancholic observation of city life, complicit moments of gentle deception, and a slow burn intimacy born of being momentarily untethered from expectation. It’s a distinctly low-key, character-driven story that explores the possibility of finding solace and unexpected connection in the wake of personal disappointment, offering a comforting, almost wistful portrait of two people seeking refuge from, and within, their own pasts.
