Chopping Mall
A late-night party at a seemingly ordinary Southern California shopping mall descends into a desperate struggle for survival when three security robots, activated by a freak lightning strike, begin a relentless and darkly comedic killing spree. Locked inside during mall lockdown, a group of teens must utilize the surrounding stores – furniture, clothing, whatever they can find – as improvised weaponry against their metallic pursuers. Unlike typical slasher films, the horror is driven by the absurd spectacle of consumerism turned against its patrons, delivering a campy, low-tech vision of android terror where the robots’ programming glitches lead to hilariously violent outcomes. It’s a contained, breathless experience focused on practical effects and escalating panic as the night wears on, injecting a surprising amount of white-knuckle tension into its B-movie premise.
